(Washington, DC) APRIL 5, 2008– DCA.FAM, an organization originated for the global campaign of DC Area Fashion, Art, & Music, is launching DEKKA its flagship designer showroom on APRIL 5th 2008. DEKKA is DC's First Designer Showroom, where Fashion, Art, & Music are cohesively combined together as one element. DEKKA was established to meet the exposure demand of DC Area's growing population of talented fashion designers, artist, and musicians. Representing an international population of designers who use unique avenues to reflect upon others' their individual visions of fashion. And, let's not forget the artist Tanekeya, Chris, and Sofiya graced the walls with the spirit of DOPENESS!!!
The ribbon-cutting ceremony commence at 4pm by which Christine Brooks Cropper, Greater Washington DC Fashion Chamber of Commerce; Ean Williams, Director of DC Fashion Week; and Abigail de Casanova, founder of DC Fashionista Group, were responsible for counting the ribbon. It was really great because it was the cause of a huge traffic jam in the middle of U Street. CRAZY!!!
Special Thanks to Tia Lyles-Williams for being my right-hand, April Miller for being my spokes model for the day on (KENDESITV.com), Chanel and Bianca for rocking NSS handcrafted originals, KENDESI for having my back during this venture and to all those who came out to show me some love and support. Also, all those who where there in the spirit. . .I felt the love! "WINK WINK"
MUAH Love you all!!!
That's PEACE

Dekka Showroom Opens
Sometimes showing unique style is like swimming upstream against a current of popped collars.
It isn’t easy to scout uncommon pieces that actually look good.
But just when it seems simpler to succumb to mass-produced crap, salvation has arrived with Dekka, a new showroom dedicated to local designers. Tucked into the second floor of a row house, the two-room shop has clothing, jewelry, cosmetics, and art.
Items range from Yosoy’s Miami-inspired dresses to Xzuberance’s polo-packed urban wear (in additional designs by National Society of Soul, Biribelle, lilylilyshop.com, and GOOD GIRLS). Also on hand: jewelry made from Peruvian silver, handbags, mineral makeup, paintings, and music. If it’s an art form worth showing, it’s here.
Proving that it’s always darkest before the spawn.
Dekka, 1338 U Street NW, between 13th and 14th Streets, second floor
(202-986-1370 or dekkafam.com).
